In 1993, Ill. Weldon Good , 33° of the Tulsa Valley in Oklahoma saw a need for assistance during reunions. He also understood that Brother Masons were being initiated into the Scottish Rite and not returning or helping with reunions. To counteract this observation he created an organization which is known as the Knights of St. Andrew to act as a service group to the Scottish Rite.
In the introductory stages of the KSA, he deemed it was necessary to make it a 32° organization, those who have not yet been honored with the Knight Commander Court of Honor also known as K.C.C.H. A 32° K.C.C.H. and 33° Scottish Rite Mason, can still be a part of the organization, however they cannot hold office or vote but they can continue to work and assist the Knights of Andrew.
In 2004, The Nashville Valley Scottish Rite saw a need to charter a Knights of the St. Andrew and under the direction of Bro. Dan Jones, 33° G.C. Brother Jones published a statement in the June/July 2004 Scottish Rite Newsletter, which read:
“The aim of the Knights of St. Andrew is to provide selfless dedication to and the promotion of our Masonic Fraternity within the Scottish Rite, our community, our jurisdiction, and state. Another goal is to provide activities for our families to be participants.”
On August 21, 2004, the Knights of St. Andrew of the Wichita, Kansas Chapter, chartered the Knights of St. Andrew Nashville Chapter. We still to this day uphold these standards and more. We have provided the Nashville Valley Scottish Rite with fervent service and dedication to the many needs of our Rite. We are stronger now than we have ever been and we will work continuously to assist the Rite.
According to the book of John, of the New Testament, Andrew was out at sea fishing with his Brother Simon Peter. When a gentleman named Jesus called to them to come-a-shore, to become Fishers-of-Man. It is said that St. Andrew was the first Apostle of John the Baptist, and was the First to recognize Jesus and got off the boat to follow Jesus and be his first Apostle.
Throughout his journey and spreading the word of God along the way, he traveled around the Black Sea region and through Europe. According to the Acts of Andrew, he had the blessing of God to raise the dead, heal the blind and lead people to baptism. St. Andrew was Martyred by crucifixion in Patras, Greece.
Andrew’s Virtue, Truth and Honor, that ye shall love God above all things, demonstrates who we are as a succession of the Knights of St. Andrew of Scotland. With Scotland having such close ties with the churches where St. Andrew walked, he became the Patron Saint of Scotland.
